Self Description

The Institute of Mangement and Economics of the Clausthal University of Technology traditionally follows a quantitative approach to economics and management science with an analytical optimizing and an experimental component.

Research in resource-constrained project scheduling, batch and continuous process scheduling, workforce scheduling as well as new approaches for optimizing supply chains constitute major areas of research. Experimental economics are another field of interest. Since 2002 laboratory experiments are being conducted at the institute in order to test theoretical statements for their relevance in reality. By continuously extending the institute, a third field of research has been developed: knowledge and value based management.

In order to promote the traditionally strong interdisciplinary cooperation with the engineering and natural science faculties the Institute of Management and Economics is participating in the construction of a scientific simulation center at the Clausthal University of Technology and the "Energy Research Center Lower Saxony (ERCLS)".
