About

Operations research in Clausthal

Here at TU Clausthal, we view business research as model-based planning.

Planning means the mental anticipation of future actions. In particular, decision alternatives are to be thought through, their effects determined and the influences of the various possible environmental developments analyzed. Finally, the decision alternatives are to be evaluated with regard to the objective or the various objectives of the decision maker.

A model is a generally simplified representation of reality obtained through abstraction. The model describes the essential relationships between decision variables in an adequate manner, so that the effects of alternative decisions can be examined on the model.
