Summer, sun, summer party - an all-round successful day at the Institute of Economics
The Institute of Economics celebrated its summer party in glorious sunshine and over 35 degrees in the shade.
What a party! On Tuesday, July 1, the Institute of Economics celebrated a summer party that lived up to its name in bright sunshine and over 35 degrees in the shade.
To kick things off, Institute Director Prof. Dr. Fabian Paetzel gave a short speech in which he thanked the entire team on behalf of the Directorate and Professorium for the great collaboration. He emphasized how much he appreciated working in such a committed and great team. After a brief review of the festive week and some current developments, he then officially opened the buffet.
Thanks to numerous helping hands, the event became a real highlight - the commitment of Svenja Schachten, Philipp Rimpp and Michael Henke deserves special mention this year. The barbecue team under the direction of Prof. Dr. Thomas Niemand created delicious food, and there was a varied selection of ice-cold drinks for refreshment. The freshly tapped anniversary beer from the research brewery went down particularly well. A big thank you goes to the research brewery, which sponsored the beer for our party, just like last year.
There was also plenty of fun and games - thanks in particular to the generous support of the Institute of Sport. Without the help of our colleagues from the Sports Institute, we would have literally been sitting on the floor - and probably roasting in the sun like sausages on a barbecue.
In games such as can throwing, cornhole (throwing bags into a hole in a board) and ladder golf (throwing balls on ribbons onto a ladder), we competed ambitiously but with a lot of humor for the best throws. Many employees tried long and hard - and in the end, Prof. Paetzel once again proved his athletic form: As in the campus run, he also cleaned up well in the can throwing and cornhole.
A big thank you goes to all employees who helped with setting up and dismantling, at the barbecues or simply wherever help was needed - and of course to the research brewery for the excellent beer and the sports institute for the great logistical support.
A successful party that once again demonstrated the team spirit of our institute - and makes us want to do it again!
