Workshop "Behavioral Economics" 2025

Harz trip in summer - exchange on research and social change as part of the "Behavioral Economics" workshop from 27-29 August 2025

The "Behavioral Economics" workshop will once again take place at Clausthal University of Technology from 27 to 29 August 2025. The event brings together scientists from various institutions to discuss current research topics relating to individual and collective decision-making behavior.

As in previous years, in addition to the scientific presentations, the program also includes informal discussions - for example during a joint hike through the Oberharzer Wasserregal and the joint conference dinner in Clausthal-Zellerfeld.

The contributions come from different areas of behavioral economics, such as

  • Market behavior and social responsibility
  • Environmental behavior and climate policy
  • Incentives and trust
  • Cooperation and coordination
  • Social identities and discrimination
  • Reputation systems and digitalization
  • Inequality and fairness

The event is aimed at invited academics and early career researchers in general, but also in particular at academics and early career researchers from the "Behavioral Economics and Societal Transformation" research area. The workshop is thus also part of the "Behavioral Economics and Societal Transformation" science area launched in 2024 , a Lower Saxony research initiative involving seven universities and the Fraunhofer FIT. The aim is to investigate social transformation processes - for example in the areas of climate, digitalization or social justice - from a behavioural economics perspective.

Clausthal University of Technology is significantly involved with the professorships of Fabian Paetzel, Roland Menges and Heike Schenk-Mathes. In addition to research collaborations, the Science Space also offers qualification opportunities for doctoral students, regular workshops and public transfer formats.
