Successful participation in ICAR 2025 in Canada
The Department of Business Administration and Management of Digital Transformation was successfully represented at the International Centre for Anti-Consumption Research (ICAR) Conference 2025 this year. The conference took place this year in Montreal, Canada, in collaboration with the Université du Québec à Montréal. Since 2005, ICAR has brought together international researchers from marketing, social sciences and related disciplines who are concerned with anti-consumption phenomena and their significance for the economy, society and sustainable development.
Joana Disselhoff and Dr. Julien Geissmar presented current research findings on sustainable consumer behavior and the factors that shape consumption decisions in the context of sustainability and resource conservation.
The International Centre for Anti-Consumption Research (ICAR) is based at the University of Auckland Business School and brings together researchers from numerous countries - including Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, Finland, France, Italy, New Zealand, Sweden, the USA and many more. Anti-consumerism research examines why people avoid certain products or brands and thus complements traditional approaches to consumption. This perspective opens up valuable insights for the economy, society and sustainable development.
Participating in ICAR 2025 was a special opportunity for our department to present our research internationally, hold valuable discussions and establish new collaborations. We are delighted with the successful exchange and look forward to further impetus for our research in the field of anti-consumerism and sustainable development. The next ICAR will take place in 2027 in cooperation with the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel.
